A Brief History :

The Kerala Chapter of the NNF was inaugurated in December 1993 at International Hotel, Cochin, by the then National President of the NNF, Dr Jayam and the National President-Elect Dr Simin Irani. Dr KA Clement was elected as the Founder President of the Kerala Chapter, and Dr MKC Nair as the Founder Secretary.

Initially the office-bearers were elected for a period of two years, but subsequently the post of President was changed to one year. In addition, three Zonal Coordinators were chosen. The Heads of the Pediatric Department of all the Medical Colleges were included in the Executive committee, in recognition of their importance in teaching neonatal care. From 1997 onwards, the District IAP Secretaries became the District representatives of the NNF too.
